EURL for Zootechnics

Interbull Centre: European Union Reference Laboratory for Zootechnics (Bovine Breeding)

The European Union Reference Laboratories (EURL's) with scientific and technical expertise within the areas of animal health, public health and zootechnics have been designated in different Community Decisions, Directives and Regulations. The Council Directives contain provisions that specify the functions and duties of each designated EURL.

In the area of zootechnics the Directorate General for Health and Consumers (SANCO) has designated a reference body responsible for collaborating in rendering uniform the testing methods and the assessment of the results for pure-bred breeding animals of the bovine species, the Interbull Centre.
